Qualifying/Practice

Showdown utilizes an closed qualifying format that to the driver will feel similar to other events. Every driver gets two qualifying runs back to back in no particular order. Judges will be looking at:

Line; Following the desired line communicated in the drivers briefing

Angle; Amount of angle in the car

Speed; Speed of the car compared to rest of the field

Impact; Show off your showmanship.

Note: Judges will also look at behaviour and drifting etiquette.

  • Showdown Cup does not solely use clipping points, but rather a detailed course layout with defined boundaries.

  • Tandem runs are encouraged but not required.

  • No more than 2 drivers will be on track at once.

  • All judges calls and decisions are final.

  • All drivers most comply with Track Staff instructions

  • Music through the mic is prohibited during a Showdown event

  • Participants may talk but not when the track is hot with qualifying or tandems

  • First 64 drivers signed up are seeded to qualify.

Judges

Showdown judging will be done in spectate mode. This gives the judges more freedom to utilize their driving experience, telemetry and insight as judging tools rather than being confined to an objective system of clipping points, scoring zones, etc. There are aspects which are universally accepted as “good drifting” such as taking a racing line, maximizing speed, and maximizing angle but there is plenty of room for the driver to show off their unique style and skill to the judges.

Violation of rules

Judges and Track staff will research every sign up. If and when a driver is found violating the rules of car setup (i.e. not utilizing proper weight reduction, tires, tire width, roll cage etc). the driver will be disqualified and banned from the rest of the season.

Disruptive behaviour during qualifying and battles will be noted and communicated. If driver fails to comply, the staff may disqualify the driver for current round. In case of a second offense, the driver will be disqualified from the season.
